| "Impressive nose for the vintage, with loads of ripe fruit and beautiful flowers. Full-bodied and very velvety, with beautiful tannins and great fruit. I love this." | |||||
| Wine Enthusiast 92 | |||||
| "Quite the fruit bomb with little to no vestiges of Old World red wine. It hits with broad, meaty aromas of black fruits and keeps that tone through the round, rich palate. Everything here is black and ripe, but there?s enough acid to produce a juicy mouthfeel. Finishes with licorice, fudge and mineral notes. " | |||||
2000 Beausejour Becot (750ml)
List Price:
|
$88.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 93 | |||||
| This the greatest Beau Sejour-Becot I have ever tasted. The opaque purple 2000 has put on weight during its elevage and, from the bottle, appears to be spectacular. The wood is well-integrated, and the fruit, glycerin, and overall flavor dimensions are noteworthy. The bouquet smells of ink, espresso, jammy blackberries and currants, wet stones, and licorice. Super-pure and fabulously extracted, with high tannin, full body, a thick texture, and awesome richness and length, this blockbuster effort will be at its finest between 2008-2025. | |||||
| Robert Parker 92 | |||||
| This full-bodied, modern-styled St.-Emilion offers a sensational perfume of smoky barbecue, jammy black currants, kirsch, licorice, and a touch of pain grille. Fleshy, savory, and full-bodied, it has shed much of its tannin, but still possesses abundant structure. It is an intense, modern-styled, mouthfilling, sumptuous, attention-getting wine to drink over the next decade. June 2010 | |||||
| Wine Enthusiast 92 | |||||
| "The Becots, Gérard and Dominique, have produced a stylish, modern wine that powers black, sweet fruits through the deceptively soft tannins. Tarry flavors and layers of new wood give the wine a new world character. How long it will last is open to question at this stage. It is certainly developing quickly." | |||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 91 | |||||
| "Bright medium ruby. Smoky aromas of black raspberry, roast coffee, meat and nutty oak. Silky and supple on entry, then lush and sweet in the middle, with expansive, slightly jammy plum, currant, chocolate and licorice flavors. Nicely structured and firm for a wine this rich and sweet, thanks to solid underlying acidity and substantial ripe, toothcoating tannins. A very broad, consistent, concentrated wine that should unfold nicely over the next decade or so." | |||||
2000 Beausejour Duffau (750ml)
List Price:
|
$136.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 92 | |||||
| Undeniably the most complete Beausejour Duffau since the mythical 1990, the black/purple-colored 2000 exhibits a port-like bouquet of licorice, blackberry liqueur, minerals, blueberries, camphor, and melted asphalt. Medium rather than full-bodied, it has a multi-layered texture in addition to gorgeous ripeness. While it is not as rich or super-concentrated as the colossal 1990, the 2000 still merits significant interest. Pure, complex, and reasonably priced, it will be at its apogee between 2013-2025+. | |||||
| Robert Parker 93 | |||||
| I often lament the fact that only the 1990 and 2009 are wines that fully showcase this extraordinary terroir. However, the 2000 is no 'Ugly Betty,' so to speak. It showed extremely well in the tastings, with the tell-tale notes of flowers, crushed rock, blueberry and camphor well-displayed. Full-bodied, rich, long, and just beginning to shed its cloak of tannin, this is quite an impressively endowed Beausejour-Duffau that can be drunk in 1-2 years or cellared for another 25 or more. | |||||

2000 Berliquet (750ml)
List Price:
|
$61.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 90 | |||||
| More of a finesse-styled St.-Emilion than many other wines from this hotbed of activity, the 2000 is the finest Berliquet yet produced. It exhibits an impressive saturated ruby/purple color as well as jammy cherry and cassis liqueur aromas, medium to full body, sweet tannin, a multi-tiered mid-palate, and a long finish. An elegant wine, it is a sleeper of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2020. | |||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 89-91 | |||||
| Excellent saturated ruby. Sappy, liqueur-like aromas of black raspberry, crushed raw cassis and espresso. Dense, bright and concentrated, with lovely verve giving the dark berry flavors a lightness of touch. The liqueur-like quality continues in the mouth. As ripe and dense as this is, it conveys an impression of finesse and balance rather than sheer weight. Really classic St. Emilion. Finishes quite long, with ripe, smooth tannins. | |||||
2000 Bond, Melbury California (750ml) |
$175.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 90 | |||||
| The 2000 Melbury displays tremendously fragrant aromas of black cherries, currants, licorice, and toasty oak, medium to full body, luscious fruit on the attack, and a slight narrowing in the finish. While outstanding, unlike the profound 2001, it needs to be drunk during its first 10-12 years of life. | |||||
2000 Canon La Gaffeliere (750ml)
List Price:
|
$147.00
|
||||
| Wine Spectator 93 | |||||
| This is very jammy and delicious. Very ripe berry aromas, with hints of roses. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a medium, caressing finish. Refined and caressing. A love it. Close to the 1998 in quality. | |||||
| Robert Parker 94 | |||||
| Performing as I expected, but still several years away from full maturity, this extraordinarily flamboyant, full-bodied, opulent, sexy St. Emilion stood out for its backward structure and youthful personality. A dark plum/garnet hue is followed by a superb bouquet of roasted coffee, kirsch, blackberries, licorice, herbs, and forest floor. Full-bodied, dense, rich, and pure, it is a total hedonistic as well as intellectual turn-on. Enjoy it over the next decade. June 2010 | |||||
| Neil Martin, Wine Journal, eRobert Parker 93 | |||||
| Tasted blind at Bordeaux Index?s 2000 tasting in London. This is deeper in colour than Belair 2000, broader and fleshier on the nose with blackberry, black plum and a touch of graphite. It displays very fine definition and clarity, signalling intense fruit to come on the palate. The palate is medium-bodied, wonderful balance and poise, the glass left for five minutes (whilst chatting!) and mellowing/coalescing. The slight hardness mellows nicely, well-integrated oak and very focused towards the finish with great persistency. Excellent. Drink 2012-2030. Tasted March 2010. | |||||
2000 Cantemerle (750ml)
List Price:
|
$45.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 88 | |||||
| This fully mature, elegant 2000 tails off slightly in the finish. Notes of forest floor, bay leaf, licorice, red currants, and cranberries are offered in a Burgundian-like, fresh, vibrant format. The tannins have melted away in this medium-bodied, finesse-styled effort. | |||||
| Wine Spectator 91 | |||||
| "Opulent red. Intense aromas of currants, cigar tobacco and berries. Full-bodied, with a solid core of silky tannins and a long finish. Well-made." | |||||
2000 Cantenac-Brown (750ml)
List Price:
|
$86.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 90 | |||||
| "Among the finest Cantenac-Browns of the last three decades, the saturated purple-colored 2000 is a sleeper of the vintage. Loaded with chocolatey black currants intermixed with sweet earth, cedar, and spice box, it exhibits medium to full body, surprisingly ripe tannin for a wine from this estate, a multi-layered texture as well as mid-palate, and a finish that lasts 25-30 seconds." | |||||
2000 Climens (750ml) |
$82.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 91 | |||||
| The proprietors are extremely happy with what they were able to produce in 2000. Even though this vintage has a poor reputation, producers who only included the early-picked grapes in their final blends have often turned out nearly exceptional wines. Yields for the 2000 Climens were microscopic (four hectoliters per hectare) and the wine, although somewhat monolithic (I tasted it right after bottling), exhibits honeyed citrus, pineapple, and hints of pears, butter, and honeysuckle. Medium-bodied and elegant, with superb purity (a hallmark of this great estate), it should be at its finest between 2007-2020. | |||||
2000 Clos de L'Oratoire (750ml-12pk OWC)
List Price:

$1,115.00
|

| Robert Parker 94 | |||||
| This is one of St-Emilion's foothill (pieds de cotes) vineyards planted with 90% Merlot and equal parts Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vinification is classic Stephan von Neipperg and Stephane Derenoncourt. Undoubtedly the finest effort this property has yet produced, the black-colored 2000 offers up sexy notes of espresso, chocolate, Asian spices, black cherry liqueur, and blackberries. Opulent, chewy, and powerful, this deep, full-bodied wine has layers of ripe fruit, huge power, yet a classic, well-delineated style. A brilliant wine. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2019. | |||||
| Wine Spectator 92 | |||||

2000 DRC Richebourg (750ml)
List Price:
|
$950.00
|
||||
| Allen Meadows, Burghound 92 | |||||
| Extremely ripe, indeed even notes of torrefaction and roast espresso beans precede big, robust, forceful austere black fruit flavors that have slightly drying tannins but not as much density and length as usual. Really quite regal but in more of a middle weight than its normal massive, well muscled and structured character. In short, this is classy, sappy and powerful with the same hint of reduction; again, decant first. | |||||
2000 DRC Romanee St. Vivant (750ml)
List Price:
|
$1,095.00
|
||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 91+ | |||||
| "Full medium red. Pure, complex, perfumed aromas of violet, gunflint, minerals, spices and earth. Sweet but light on its feet, lifted by a note of menthol. Quite youthfully unevolved, but finishes with noteworthy persistence." | |||||
| Allen Meadows, Burghound 91 | |||||
| "Brooding, backward and quite a bit more reserved and less expressive with subtly spicy black fruit aromas trimmed by a subtle hint of oak and followed by restrained, pure, gorgeously sappy and harmonious, completely seductive flavors that offer the best delineation of any of these wines. This is extraordinarily fine and detailed with length that lasts and lasts. Though this will undoubtedly add weight and complexity, it will likely always be understated and refined rather than powerful. This is a simply sublime combination of spice, silk and velvet delivered in a perfect sphere of impeccable balance. Incredible by any standard but especially so for the vintage. | |||||

| "There are 3,300 cases of the unfiltered, steely, Chablis-like 2000 Chardonnay Estate. It possesses excellent citrus and liquid mineral notes, medium body, subtle oak, and loads of fruit. This crisp and refreshing offering will drink well during its first 2-3 years of life." | |||||
2000 Duhart-Milon-Rothschild (750ml)
List Price:
|
$145.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 90 | |||||
| An outstanding Duhart, certainly one of the best produced at this estate since the 1996, 1986, and 1982, this blend of 80.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19.5% Merlot reveals a deep ruby/purple color as well as notes of lead pencil intermixed with wet stones, black currants, and a certain leafiness. Medium to full-bodied, ripe, and dense, but tightly-knit, with considerable tannin, it will require patience. For those willing to wait, it will be a sleeper of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2019. | |||||
| Wine Enthusiast 89 | |||||
| "The younger brother of Lafite, Duhart-Milon exhibits deliciously pure fruit. The wine is deceptively soft, because under the black jelly fruits, there are also dusty, dry, firm tannins. At the end, though, it is the vibrant fruit which lingers." | |||||
| Wine Spectator 90 | |||||
| "Loads of plum, tobacco, meaty and cedary character on the nose. Full-bodied, with lots of chewy tannins and a long, luscious finish. This needs time to open. Closed now. Best after 2007." | |||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar | |||||
| "Bright ruby-red. Currant, shoe polish, currant leaf and nutty oak on the nose. Chunkier and fleshier than the Carruades de Lafite-in fact, almost rustic by comparison-but with firm supporting acidity." | |||||
2000 Dunn, Howell Mountain California (750ml) |
$87.00
|
||||
| Wine Spectator 88 | |||||
| "Hard and chewy, with a strong dose of cedary oak, wild berry, blackberry and mineral flavors. Dense and concentrated, it is supported by firm, chewy tannins, ending with a minerally quality and good length." | |||||
| Robert Parker 88 | |||||
| "Telltale aromas of violets, blackberries, blueberries, and crushed stones are apparent in this medium to full-bodied, slightly lean 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain. Tasty and expressive, it needs 3-4 years of cellaring, and should drink well for a decade." | |||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 91 | |||||
| First component: Saturated ruby. Wild aromas of crushed dark berries, leather and meat. Juicy and minerally but not particularly fleshy. Shows a slightly rustic gamey quality to go with the mountain berry intensity. Second component: Distinctly animal on the nose. More expressive, expansive flavors of black raspberry, minerals and game. This may well surpass both the '99 and '98 Howell Mountain. | |||||
2000 Falesco Montiano (750ml)
List Price:
|
$65.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 94 | |||||
| Falesco's top offering is a 100% barrique-aged Merlot, the 2000 Montiano. While it may not equal the quality of the 1999 or 1997, it comes close. The 2000 boasts an opaque purple color in addition to a sumptuous perfume of graphite, blackberries, currants, licorice, and subtle pain grille notes. With great depth, full body, sweet tannin, and a long, layered, elegant finish, it should drink well between 2005-2020. Bravo! | |||||

| Wine Enthusiast 91 | |||||

2000 Ferrand-Lartigue (750ml)
List Price:
|
$62.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 91 | |||||
| A limited production St.-Emilion, this estate has developed a considerable following for its user-friendly, lavishly fruited and oaked wines. From bottle, the 2000 Ferrand Lartigue has weight, expansiveness, structure as well as tannin, suggesting 1-2 years of cellaring is warranted. Cassis, licorice, tobacco smoke, and sweet fruit provide an expressive, medium to full-bodied personality. Long, pure, and impressively built, it will be drinkable between 2005-2015. This is accessible enough to drink young, but it has more structure than previous vintages. | |||||

| A wonderfully sweet bouquet of creme de cassis, melted licorice, mocha, and vanilla soars from the glass. The rich, pure, concentrated, opaque purple-colored 2000 displays all the hallmarks of this great vintage power, concentration, depth, ripeness, and moderately high tannin. Dense and impressive, it will be drinkable between 2006-2018. Last tasted, 1/03. Made from a vineyard situated near Angelus and Beau-Sejour-Becot, this 600-case blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc is fashioned from low yields and is put through a pre-fermentation cold maceration. The rich, pure, concentrated, opaque purple-colored 2000 displays all the hallmarks of this great vintage - power, intensity, depth, ripeness, and moderately high tannin. Dense and impressive, it will be drinkable between 2004-2015. | |||||

| Serious wine. Loads of chocolate, raspberry and cherry character. Full-bodied, with lots of vanilla and reduced raspberry flavors. Long and caressing. Modern and exciting. Best Couspaude I have ever tasted. | |||||
| Robert Parker 92 | |||||
| This is a lavishly fruity, toasty, seductive wine with no hard edges. It possesses terrific fat and a sweet, opulent, multi-layered style. Possessing a dense ruby/purple color along with copious quantities of black cherry liqueur, espresso, mineral, oak, and roasted nut characteristics, this layered, voluptuous, full-throttle effort should be drinkable in 2-3 years and last for 16+. A full-bodied wine, it is sexy stuff. | |||||

List Price:

$73.00

||||
| Robert Parker 91 | |||||
| A saturated purple color is followed by a gorgeous perfume of ink, plum, cassis, licorice, smoke, and espresso. Dense, full-bodied, and opulent, offering a hedonistic as well as intellectual turn-on, it should drink well for 10-15 years. | |||||
2000 Lagier Meredith, Mt. Veeder California (750ml) |
$45.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 91 | |||||
| From a 4-acre, east-facing Mt. Veeder vineyard, this blend of 99.96% Syrah and .04% Viognier was aged 20 months in French oak, and bottled without filtration. Sadly, only 307 cases were produced. It is a classy, savory, complex, seamless Syrah revealing wonderful aromas of sweet blackberries and currants intermixed with licorice, acacia flowers, and hints of wood as well as earth. Textured and broad, with beautiful integration of acidity, tannin, and wood, this complex effort should drink well for a decade. Kudos! | |||||
| Wine Spectator 92 | |||||
| Dark, rich, intense and plush given its size and density of flavor, serving up a tight core of currant, plum, mineral, white pepper, sage and blackberry fruit. Amazing vibrancy and vitality to the fruit flavors. Tannins are substantial, too. | |||||
2000 Leonetti Washington (750ml) |
$147.00
|
||||
| Wine Spectator 92 | |||||
| Almost light in texture, remarkably supple and appealing for its chocolate-scented berry flavors, which pick up intensity on the ultrasmooth finish. More elegant and subtle that most previous vintages, although less powerful. | |||||
2000 Les Forts de Latour (750ml) |
$350.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 91 | |||||
| A brilliant Forts de Latour, the 2000 boasts a dense ruby/purple color along with a vibrant nose of black currants intermixed with minerals, tobacco, and spice box. Medium to full-bodied, with loads of glycerin and fat (that nearly obscure some serious tannin), it will be drinkable between 2007-2020. | |||||
| Wine Spectator 93 | |||||
| Super enticing aromas of crushed raspberries, Indian spices and hints of vanilla. Full-bodied, with a refined and tight tannin structure and a long, refreshing finish. A beauty. Second wine of Latour. Best Les Forts in years. | |||||

It should drink well for 5-6 years." | |||||
2000 Merus California (1.5L) |
$385.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 90 | |||||
| The 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon (450 cases) exhibits a dense ruby/purple color as well as a sweet nose of charcoal, blackberry, cassis, mineral, and Asian spice characteristics. Full-bodied and rich, with well-integrated oak, a creamy texture, and real opulence as well as purity with no hard edges, this is the most evolved and forward effort Merus has yet produced. It should be drunk over the next 10-12 years. This is a thrilling offering from true garagists! | |||||
| Wine Spectator 94 | |||||
| Tremendous. Ripe, rich, deftly balanced and deeply concentrated, yet with a wonderful sense of harmony and finesse. The flavors are sharply defined, built around cassis, currant, mocha and anise, with a long, luxuriant aftertaste. | |||||
2000 Mondavi Reserve California (750ml) |
$78.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 90-92 | |||||
| "The wine is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Merlot and Malbec. It exhibits a deep purple color as well as an elegant, sweet perfume of black currants intertwined with licorice, loamy soil, and hints of mints as well as new oak. It is ripe, long, and structured, with medium to full body, outstanding purity and concentration, and a persistent finish. This elegant Cabernet will be at its finest between 2006-2020." | |||||
| Wine Enthusiast 92 | |||||
| "Oak dominates in the wine?s youth, with scents of wood and smoky earth. In the mouth, rich and dense. The tannins are thick, but soft and melted. Acidity kicks in on the finish. Structurally superb, but curiously lean and herbal in flavor, as thought it were deliberately picked early. No doubt meant for the cellar. " | |||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 92 | |||||
| "Deep ruby-red color. Captivating aromas of currant, black cherry, violet, tobacco, iron and smoky oak. Very silky on entry, then broad, rich and sweet, with superb, expressive fruit. Seamless, full, very suave wine, with lovely layered texture and flavor definition. Really opens out on the finish, showing fine-grained tannins and terrific length." | |||||
2000 Nenin (750ml) |
$109.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 93 | |||||
| This wine has turned out exceptionally well, and to my thinking, is the finest Nenin yet made under the Delon administration. A blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc, the opaque purple-colored 2000 boasts corpulent, thick, juicy, jammy black fruits redolent with flavors of blackberries, cherries, and plums. Hints of licorice, truffles, and subtle wood are present as well. There is also tremendous opulence, thickness, and structure. A comparison with the best 1975s from Pomerol could be made, but the 2000 is sweeter and fleshier. It is a brilliant success for Nenin. | |||||
2000 Oberto Barolo Rocche (750ml)
List Price:
|
$65.00
|
||||
| FineWine International | |||||
| Oberti has produced an outstanding Barolo Rocche in the acclaimed 2000 vintage. But this should not be surprising since he has been producing outstanding Barolo from the Rocche vineyard for a number of years now. As Gambero Rosso has noted what is impressive about Oberti's Barolo Rocche is its "austere elegance and meansured finesse". The classic nebbiolo flavors and aromas are there in perfect balance. This is a wine to cellar but it is very seductive now. | |||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 91 | |||||
| Full ruby-red. Musky aromas of dark berries, maraschino cherry and nutty oak. Lush, sweet and deep; more exotic than the Albarella, with liqueur-like flavors of berries and black cherry. Quite large-scaled for a Barolo from La Morra. Really saturates the palate with fruit. Finishes long and rich, with big, ripe tannins. | |||||
| Robert Parker 92 | |||||
| The 2000 Barolo Rocche does full justice to one of La Morra¿s most important vineyards. Powerful and balsamic notes of red fruit, anise, and roses give way to ripe, dense, and velvety flavors, more concentrated than those of the Barolo Arbarella but suppler, smoother, and more sensual as well. The wine should easily last another dozen years.Daniel Thomases | |||||
2000 Petite Village (750ml) |
$52.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 90 | |||||
| Smoky, earthy notes intermixed with espresso roast, chocolate, plums, and black currants jump from the glass of this dark plum/ruby colored wine. Chewy and fleshy, with sweet fruit, ripe tannin, medium to full body, and a sexy mouthfeel, it should be enjoyed between 2005-2016. | |||||
| Neil Martin, Wine Journal, eRobert Parker 89 | |||||
| Tasted blind at Bordeaux Index?s 2000 tasting in London. This does not quite have the same level of intensity on the nose but it has fine definition and an almost Burgundy-like personality. Very pure, with aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and a touch of kirsch. The palate is full-bodied with dense tannins, quite backward and a little brusque at first, very focused, nice weight towards the masculine, structure, symmetrical finish with tobacco and graphite laced black fruit. Good length, but I just worry about the hardness. Drink 2012-2020. Tasted March 2010. | |||||

| "Gorgeous aromas of blackberry and crushed raspberry. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish. Beautiful fruit and structure." | |||||
| Robert Parker 90 | |||||
| "This is a more massive and structured wine from bottle than when tasted out of barrel, where it was undeniably a St.-Emilion fruit bomb. Still fruit-driven, it has a deep ruby/purple color in addition to gorgeously sweet raspberry and cherry fruit, a bigger framework and more muscle than I would have thought from barrel, as well as loads of glycerin in the finish. An additional 1-2 years of bottle age will result in more supple tannin. This sumptuous beauty is certainly the finest wine I have ever tasted from Pipeau. It should age well for 10-15 years. For readers who have not discovered the hedonistic joys of Pipeau, it is about time." | |||||
2000 Pride Mountain Reserve California (750ml) |
$163.00
|
||||
| Wine Spectator 89 | |||||
| "Sleek and elegant, with pretty scents of blackberry and sandlewood, turning elegant and polished. Well-structured, with firm, integrated tannins and a long, complex finish. Drink now through 2009." | |||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 91 | |||||
| "Good medium ruby. Rather reticent, brooding nose hints at black cherry, blackberry, violet, bitter chocolate and new oak; suggestions of almost port-like superripeness. Lush, sweet and fat, with intriguing mineral and tar notes; showing more mid-palate density than the reserve claret but this is also less open and juicy today. Finishes with substantial, broad, oak-driven tannins that slightly shorten the wine's fruit today, but this has very good thrust and length. This actually got more than 100% new oak, according to Foley: the wine began with a sojourn in new barrels, then after the various components were allowed to marry in neutral barrels the wine was returned to another set of new barrels." | |||||
2000 Quilceda Creek Washington (750ml) |
$235.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 94 | |||||
| The dark ruby-colored 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon has a nose reminiscent of a blackberry-flavored Yoplait yogurt laced with roasted oak and hints of licorice. A full-bodied wine of power and structure, it is crammed with black currants, blackberries, and spices. Its dense fruit is matched blow for blow with a muscular, firm structure. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2020. | |||||
| Wine Spectator 93 | |||||
| "Announces itself as a serious red from the first whiff of earthy, smoky notes weaving through the licorice-scented dark berry flavors. This firm, chewy wine expands on the long finish under a layer of fine-grained tannins, holding it all together seamlessly. It begs for time in the cellar to develop. Best after 2006." | |||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 92 | |||||
| "Bright medium ruby. Aromas of crystallized dark berries, tobacco, mocha, peat, graphite and smoky, spicy oak. Very rich and dense but not overly sweet, with strong oak notes of spice and chocolate along with suggestions of pipe tobacco and fresh herbs. Finishes with ripe, chocolatey tannins and excellent length." | |||||
2000 Roc de Cambes (750ml) |

| This is the Roc de Cambes' finest effort since the 1990. Notes of black cherry jam (kirsch) soar from the glass of this expansive, full-bodied, fleshy sexpot. Deep and chewy, with plenty of chocolate, cocoa, blackberry, and cherry fruit displayed in a flamboyant style, it is a knockout, sensual wine to drink now and over the next 10-12 years. It is also a sleeper of the vintage. | |||||

| Robert Parker 94 | |||||
| The fully mature, flamboyant, exuberant 2000 Valandraud offers beautiful notes of coffee, blackberries, sweet cherries, licorice, and smoke. Medium to full-bodied with a buffet of aromas and flavors as well as sweet tannin and a plush, succulent mouthfeel, this is a terrific effort from proprietor Thunevin. It should drink well for another 8-10 years. | |||||
| Wine Spectator 93 | |||||
| This is really exciting, with dark chocolate, berry, grilled meat and cedar. Full-bodied and silky, with lovely berry and mineral character. Goes on for quite a while. Best from Valandraud yet. Best after 2008. ?JS | |||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 92 | |||||
| Bright medium ruby. Roasted aromas of blackberry, black raspberry, cherry, lead pencil and espresso, plus an exotic suggestion of peach. Thick and impressively concentrated, with lovely clarity of berry and cherry flavors thanks to firm acidity. Full, deep, lush and very long, with thoroughly ripe, sweet tannins suffusing the entire palate. This has the best mouth coverage of any of Thunevin 2000s. | |||||

| "Good full red. Black cherry, tar, herbs and a whiff of minerals on the nose. Bright cherry and berry flavors are kept fresh and firm by sound acidity. Not especially complex but nicely balanced and enticing." | |||||
| Wine Enthusiast 91 | |||||
| Quite spicy, with cinnamon and peppery cherry, raspberry, black currant, anise, tea and plum notes. Smooth, silky tannins frame it all, with a mellow finish. Quite nice. Editors' Choice. | |||||
2001 Blankiet Estate California (750ml) |
$125.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 92 | |||||
| The dense purple-colored 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Paradise Hills Vineyard reveals Graves-like characteristics of charcoal embers, roasted herbs, blackberries, currants, and hints of chocolate, cassis, new saddle leather, and earth. Full-bodied, dense, and powerful, it is a serious vin de garde. This chewy, intense Cabernet should be at its finest between 2008 and 2020+. | |||||
2001 Blankiet Estate California (1.5L) |
$215.00
|
||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 92 | |||||
| "Full, deep ruby-red. Very sexy, perfumed aromas of black raspberry, violet, mint, spices and tobacco. Broad, dry and suave; at once velvety and light on its feet. Bordeaux-like in its texture and inner-mouth verve. Coats the entire palate with flavor. Finishes very long and sweet, with a flavor of melted chocolate. A retaste of a bottle I sampled last year just after it was bottled." | |||||
| Robert Parker 91 | |||||
| "The dark plum/purple-colored 2001 Merlot Paradise Hills Vineyard exhibits sweet aromas of cherry liqueur interwoven with mocha fudge. Firm, hard tannin in the finish closes the wine down on the palate. This is a structured, seriously-endowed Merlot meant for long term aging. The aromatics are a knock-out, but the flavors have yet to completely unfold, and while loaded as well as impressively endowed, the wine is tannic and backward. " | |||||
2001 Bond, Matriarch California (750ml) |
$116.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 94 | |||||
| A great introduction to Bond's style is the 2001 Matriarch, which Bob Levy calls, our elegant leftovers. This is a three-vineyard blend of the juice that was not rich or concentrated enough to be included in the single vineyard bottlings. Beautifully made, with wonderfully sweet notes of smoke, lead pencil shavings, black cherries, and cassis, an opulent texture, impressive concentration, low acidity, and silky tannin, it possesses more up-front charm and accessibility than its bigger siblings. Enjoy it over the next 10-12 years. | |||||
2001 Bryant Family California (750ml) |
$295.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 91 | |||||
| "The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits the classic Bryant bouquet of melted creosote intermixed with blackberry liqueur and other black fruits. It is medium to full-bodied, opulent and sumptuous, but the finish is shorter, with drier tannin than it would have had if it had been bottled unfiltered. Give it 3-5 years of cellaring, and drink it over the following 10-15 years." | |||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 93-96 | |||||
| Good full deep medium ruby. Aromas of kirsch, cassis, bitter chocolate and licorice; extremely primary yet hints at almost exotic ripeness. Wonderfully sweet, intensely flavored and bright; dense, sharply delineated and seamless. This hasn't really expanded yet in barrel and thus is not yet showing its flesh. But this young cabernet's solid structure and outstanding persistence suggest that it may ultimately surpass my current projected range. 93-96 points | |||||

| "The medium- to full-bodied 2001 Brunello di Montalcino is rich, plump, and bursting with flavor, showing subtle, delicately woven notes of earthiness, tobacco, smoke, minerals and plenty of dark cherry fruit supported by firm yet fine tannins. It is sure to improve with a few years of cellaring but it is quite impressive even today. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2021 | |||||
