Robert Parker 96
The unctuous, opulent 2003 Laville Haut-Brion is stunningly rich, full-bodied, and intense. Reminiscent of the 1989 and 1994, it offers a powerful, concentrated, honeyed grapefruit character intermixed with citrus oil, flowers, and waxy marmalade, admirable acidity, and a tremendous mouthfeel as well as length. It should drink well for 25+ years.
Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 92
Slightly reduced aromas of tropical fruits, lanolin, honey, oyster shell and resiny oak. Fat, thick and powerful, with rich peach and ripe citrus flavors along with a very rich honeyed aspect from the semillon and the sheer ripeness of the harvest. A bit livelier in the mouth than the nose suggests, and clearly better balanced than it seemed to be last spring. At 13%, this is actually a bit lower in alcohol than the 2004.
Wine Spectator 95-99
Lots of lemon, lime and honey aromas with hints of other citrus fruits. Full-bodied, with exotic fruit character. Fresh and long. Papaya, mango and banana. A tropical drink. 88 percent Sémillon this year, the rest Sauvignon Blanc. - Barrel Tasting

2005 is an excellent vintage possessing high acidity as well as impressive levels of weight, richness, and texture.
Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 91-94
Brisk aromas of citrus skin, flowers, minerals and mint, along with a deeper hint of honey. Wonderfully fresh in the mouth yet sweet, with highly concentrated flavors of grapefruit, lemon, mint and fresh herbs. There's a coolness to this wine but at the same time more creaminess and body than the comparatively crisp 2004. The second consecutive outstanding vintage for this 100%-sauvignon blanc cuvee (A retaste of the 2004 turned up exhilarating aromas of white peach and grapefruit, wonderful ripeness in a classically dry package, and outstanding persistence. I rated the wine 94 points
Wine Spectator 92
Dense and powerful. Very tight, with aromas of flint, apples and citrus fruit that follow through to a full body, with honey and vanilla character. Needs time. Like a premier cru white Burgundy. Best after 2010.
