2007 Quilceda Creek Washington (750ml) |
$265.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 100 | |||||
| "The flagship 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon contains 3% Merlot. This multi-dimensional offering surrenders an inviting bouquet of sandalwood, Asian spices, violets, truffle, black currant, and blackberry. Seamless on the palate with no hard edges, it is mouth-coating, powerful, and exceptionally light on its feet all at the same time. Impeccably balanced and with plenty of fine-grained tannin in the background, it should effortlessly achieve its 30th birthday. The entire portfolio is a tour de force!" | |||||
| Wine Enthusiast 96 | |||||
| "This feels slightly softer in the mouth than the massive 2006, but carries the density and gravitas that one associates with Quilceda Creek. Wonderful balance, with a deeply detailed set of flavors that gather strength as they move through the palate. Mixed berries, threaded with chocolate, lingering with black cherry, cassis, smoke, cedar, lead pencil and more." | |||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 95 | |||||
| "Dark medium ruby. Lovely vibrancy to the aromas of blackcurrant, plum, licorice and cocoa powder, with a strong impression of minerality. Like liquid silk on the palate and yet powerful at the same time, with strong minerality contributing to the impression of lift and inner-mouth perfume. The dark berry, violet and cocoa powder flavors offer compelling early sweetness, and this wine's wonderfully lush tannins will not get in the way of early enjoyment. A great example of the new generation of Quilceda Creek cabernet. Based on its superb length and balance, I'd cellar this for even more fireworks ahead." | |||||
| Wine Spectator 94 | |||||
| "Firm, with a light grip of tannins around a core of dark berry, currant, smoke and tobacco flavors. This has elegance and depth, with a welcome sense of reticence that doesn't push the flavors too strong. Finishes very long, with a silky texture." | |||||
2007 Robert Foley California (750ml) |
$78.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 95+ | |||||
| The black/purple 2007 Petite Sirah may well be around in 50-60 years, when most of us will be pushing up daisies. In fact, it probably needs to be forgotten for 8-10 years. A massive, pedal-to-the-metal Petite Sirah that looks like pen ink, the wine displays notes of creosote, pepper, spice box, blackberry, and blueberry, with hints of incense and floral undertones. It is dense and almost looks like syrup being poured into a glass. It is obviously not for everybody, as it is certainly a controversial New World wine, but these wines will become more and more civilized as they age, and I wouldn¿t be surprised if this one is spoken of with reverence 40-50 years from now. | |||||
2007 Screaming Eagle California (750ml) |
$2,915.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 100 | |||||
| The most profound Screaming Eagle since the 2002 and 1997, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon (an 800-case blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc) offers up a prodigiously pure, complex nose of cassis, spring flowers, licorice and black currants, the latter component being so intense and lingering that it makes this cuvee stand apart from other Napa Valley wines. Full-bodied in the mouth, like a ballerina on her toes, this wine glides gracefully across the palate with a cascade of purity, equilibrium and compelling complexity. Extraordinary balance and elegance combined with power make for an utterly stunning wine that should drink well for two decades or more. Even though the estate is being reconstituted and a new winery built, this wine still came from the old sector of the vineyard (15.5 acres) that was used by the previous proprietor, Jean Phillips. | |||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 96 | |||||
| Good full, deep ruby. Quite Bordeaux-like on the nose, with notes of bitter cherry, dark chocolate, tobacco, cedar and iron, plus a whiff of aromatic resin. Then opulent on the palate but at the same time juicy, precise and very intensely flavored, with terrific inner-mouth lift to the flavors of currant, spices, brown sugar and pungent minerality. Finishes impressively long, spreading out to saturate the entire palate. Boasts a terrific spine for aging. | |||||
| Wine Spectator 98 | |||||
| A supple, sophisticated, elegant and stylish wine that wows you with purity, finesse and understated nuances. Full-bodied, with a core of red and black cherry, current, mineral and sage, ending with a long, layered, persistent, graceful finish, all in a style that distinguishes itself from most Napa Cabernets. | |||||
2007 Skewis, Peters Vineyard California (750ml)
List Price:
|
$45.00
|
||||
| Wine- Maker Notes | |||||
| Deep garnet color, lush and rich. Very pretty nose of plum, chocolate covered cherries, sweet smoky vanilla, ripe berries and brown spices. Rich fruit flavors of blueberry, dark plum and ripe strawberries with added notes of anise, sweet leather and toast. Very smooth and round mouth feel, full bodied, expansive and complex with a medium finish and acidity. | |||||
| Allen Meadows, Burghound | |||||
| A very fresh, bright and expressive nose speaks of a panoply of red berry fruit aromas that gives way to rich, naturally sweet and attractively textured flavors that coat the palate with sap on the snappy and lingering finish that displays a distinct tanginess as well as a hint of warmth. | |||||
2007 Suacci, Carciere Suacci Vineyard California (750ml) |
$53.00
|
||||
| FineWine International | |||||
| What seperates this wine from so many of its peers is the spectacular aromatics. On the nose, the wine displays the hallmark Suacci flavors: herbs, pomegranate, raspberry and earth, but the mouthfeel is lush and powerful. The Suacci vineyard is starting to shed its baby fat and the 2007 vintage from the Suacci Vineyard is bolder and more complex with a nice richness while maintaining its petite, crisp stature. All in all, an outstanding Pinot Noir. Highly recommended. | |||||
2007 Vineyard 7&8 Estate California (750ml) |
$129.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 94+ | |||||
| The prodigious 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate looks terrific, with the most structure, minerality, and power of the two Cabernets, but beautiful blueberry and floral notes intermixed with camphor, creme de cassis, licorice, and forest floor. Full-bodied, with terrific texture, sweet tannin, and fabulous length and concentration, this is a wine to drink young or cellar for 25 more years. These are very impressive wines. None other than the well-known Luc Morlet makes the wines at this winery on Spring Mountain. | |||||
| Wine & Spirits 95 | |||||
| This wine grows at the Steffens family's ten-acre caberent vineyard, planted on Spring Mountain in the early 1980s. It emphasizes the high elevation and volcanic soils of the site in its powerful mountain-grown tannin, ferrous in its tension and strength. There's supple fruit underneath, completely filling that structure with substance and style; the wine is built to cellar for ten years, whenthe elegance of that fruit will begin to supersede the tannic power. This is Luc Morlet's first vintage as winemaker at Vineyard 7 & 8 (prior to that, he was best known for his work at Peter Michael Winery, where he continues to consult). | |||||
2007 Vineyard 8 Reserve Chardonnay California (750ml)
List Price:
|
$56.70
|
||||
| Wine- Maker Notes | |||||
| The 2007 "8" Chardonnay was my first Chardonnay produced at Vineyard 7 & 8, and an effort I was extremely happy with. This chardonnay exhibits a bright golden color, and displays an intense and complex bouquet of candied lemon and citrus oils, intermixed with crushed stone fruits. Full bodied with a texture that is soft and creamy, and a long finish of mineral notes that highlight the white volcanic rocky soils from the estate. Luc Morlet, Winemaker | |||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 92 | |||||
| Good medium yellow. Aromas of soft citrus fruits, lemon oil, creme brulee, hazelnut and butterscotch. Supple, fat and rich, with a chewy texture to the sweet citrus and stone fruit flavors. Broad but not heavy, thanks to vibrant underlying minerality and the high percentage of porous white volcanic ash here. The best vintage yet for this bottling. | |||||
| Wine Spectator 92 | |||||
| Rich flavors and creamy vanilla-laced oak are wrapped around ripe pear and apple notes. Full-bodied, ending with spice and hazelnut. Drink now through 2011. | |||||
| Robert Parker 92 | |||||
| The brilliant 2007 Chardonnay displays loads of honeysuckle, orange blossom, and tropical fruit in an exuberant, sexy, medium to full-bodied style, with gorgeous purity, length, and intensity. This beauty should drink well for 3-4 years. | |||||
2008 Freeman, Sonoma Coast California (750ml) |
$42.00
|
||||
| Wine- Maker Notes | |||||
| "the 2008 Freeman Sonoma Coast is the darkest, most powerful and largest-framed of our lineup of four Pinot Noirs. The nose is dominated by spicy, slow-ripening Pinot Noir aromas, with hints of violets and roses. Though somewhat similar on the palate to our ?08 Russian River Valley bottling, the Sonoma Coast offers higher acidity and firmer tannins." | |||||
2008 Rochioli Little Hill Block California (750ml) |
$150.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 94-96 | |||||
| Revealing a slightly darker ruby/purple color is the more backward, but well-made, impressive 2008 Pinot Noir Little Hill Vineyard. Black currants, subtle smoke, barbecue spice, and forest floor aromas emerge from this expressive, full-bodied effort. It possesses tremendous purity and length as well as a great finish with no hard edges. | |||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 92 | |||||
| Vivid red. Wild, smoky aromas of cherry, blackberry and mocha complicated by candied licorice. Suave and sappy on entry, then lush but restrained in the middle palate, showing a subtle sweetness and staining the palate with deep dark fruit flavor. This pungent, expressive wine conveys a strong impression of soil character. Finishes with broad, chewy tannins and intense lingering perfume. Give this one some time. | |||||
2008 Scarecrow Monsieur Etain California (750ml) |
$201.00
|
||||
| Wine- Maker Notes | |||||
| Unmistakably from the Cohn Ranch in Rutherford, Napa Valley, this lovely Cabernet shows all the trademark nuances for which this ranch is known. Intense dark cherry, black plum and raspberry tones slowly escape from the wine surface, carrying with them nuances of of sweet baking spices (clove, nutmeg), vanilla, warm star anise, cedar, and warm mocha notes. On the palate, the texture is immediately broad and full, with a soft, heavy-satin sensation akin to melted dark chocolate. The finish echoes the fruit expression in the aromas, evoking dark fruits and a cocoa/mocha tone. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was harvested from five separate blocks of vines, all a part of the J.J. Cohn Estate in Rutherford, Napa Valley, between September 16 and October 1, 2008. Treated with the same care and respect as all of the Scarecrow lots, the fruit was harvested by hand, fermented in small vats, aged in 90% new French oak for 16 months, then bottled without fining or filtration in mid March, 2010. | |||||
2008 Screaming Eagle California (750ml) |
$2,160.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 96-98 | |||||
| Performing much better than it did last year, the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon (88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot; 680 cases produced) also possesses extraordinary intensity. Fragrant aromas of loamy soil interwoven with classic creme de cassis, incense and licorice are followed by a big, full-bodied, dense, rich, long, slightly more masculine wine than the 2007 with more prominent tannins than in the seamlessly built 2007. The 2008 is another fabulous Cabernet Sauvignon from this magical sector just south of the Oakville Crossroads. | |||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 96 | |||||
| Dark ruby-red. Aromas of crushed blackberry, liquid stone, licorice pastille, violet and graphite. Wonderfully sappy and energetic, with berry, licorice and stone flavors dominating. This extremely suave, sweet cabernet boasts terrific intensity and precision. Finishes with lush tannins and outstanding persistence. Screaming Eagle will eventually include 10% to 12% cabernet franc, noted winemaker Andy Erickson. Both this vintage and the young 2009 have pHs around 3.7. This wine was a bit disorganized when I tasted it from barrel a year ago but it has turned out splendidly. | |||||

2009 Screaming Eagle California (750ml) |
$1,695.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 98+ | |||||
| "The 2009 Screaming Eagle is insanely beautiful. It is a relatively open vintage that nevertheless possesses stunning intensity, depth and elegance. Dark red berries, flowers, mint and spices are all woven together beautifully. Layers of fruit build effortlessly to the long, seductive finish. The 2009 continues to flesh out in the glass. All of the elements are in the right place in the drop-dead gorgeous, stunning 2009. A haunting bouquet reminiscent of a great Musigny lingers on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029." Antonio Galloni | |||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 95 | |||||
| "Deep medium ruby. Aromas of blackberry, licorice and stone show a youthfully medicinal quality. Displays sweet fruit on entry, but this is more like a tightly coiled spring on the mid-palate, conveying a distinctly imploded character today. Densely packed, juicy and spicy wine with a firm tannic spine and terrific length and lift. This very powerful wine, which appears to have more seed tannins than the 2008, will need a good decade of bottle aging upon release. " | |||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 96 | |||||
| (87% cabernet sauvignon, 8% cabernet franc and 5% merlot): Good bright ruby-red. Vibrant aromas of crushed cassis, ripe redcurrant, licorice, bitter chocolate, tobacco and spearmint. Smooth and impressively concentrated, with a hint of medicinal austerity to the flavors of black fruits, violet, bitter chocolate and menthol. Penetrating, gripping wine with great flavor intensity. Powerfully structured too, finishing with firm tannins and outstanding, slowly building, juicy length. The pH here is 3.8, according to estate manager Armand de Maigret, but the wine boasts outstanding lift. | |||||
2009 Turley Cederman California (750ml) |
$42.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 92-94 | |||||
| A sensational offering, the 2009 Zinfandel Cedarman boasts a deep plum/purple color as well as notes of blueberries, raspberries, spring flowers, damp earth, pepper and licorice. It is a complex, full-throttle, deep, rich Zinfandel to enjoy over the next 6-8 years. | |||||
| Wine Spectator 93 | |||||
| Rich yet densely structured, with appealing blackberry and toasty vanilla aromas and deep flavors of huckleberry, mineral and licorice that balance ripeness with refined acidity and bold tannins. | |||||
2009 Turley Duarte California (750ml) |
$40.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker | |||||
| "The dark garnet/plum-hued 2009 Zinfandel Duarte Vineyard possesses abundant sandy, loamy soil notes intermixed with hints of kirsch, black currants, sweet tannins and a medium-bodied, front end-loaded, fruity style meant to be consumed over the next 3-4 years." | |||||
| Wine Spectator 92 | |||||
| Dense and appealingly rustic, with floral raspberry and cinnamon aromas and complex flavors of cherry, roasted sage and freshly cracked pepper. The tannins are big but ripe. Best from 2014 through 2019. | |||||
2009 Turley Dusi Ranch California (750ml) |
$49.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker | |||||
| Earthy, tapenade, briery fruit, spice box and incense characterize the dark plum-colored 2009 Zinfandel Dusi Vineyard. It is a fragrant, front end-loaded 2009, but it does not reveal the depth of some of the biggest Zins in this portfolio. It should drink well for 2-3 years. | |||||
| Wine Spectator 92 | |||||
| Dark and concentrated, with cherry pie and toasty vanilla aromas that lead to balanced, complex flavors of blackberry, mocha and peppered licorice. Drink now through 2018. | |||||
2009 Turley Estate California (750ml) |
$55.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 92-94 | |||||
| "Speaking of big Zinfandels, the super 2009 Zinfandel Turley Estate is produced from a tightly-spaced (3 x 6) vineyard near the winery north of St. Helena. It displays lots of briery black raspberry and black cherry fruit intermixed with Provencal herbs, pepper and loamy, earthy soil notes. Full-bodied, rich, layered and multidimensional, this is about as good a 2009 Zinfandel as readers will find." | |||||
| Wine Spectator 90 | |||||
| "Dense and powerful, with smoky black cherry aromas and jammy but well-structured plum, jalapeño and spicy cinnamon flavors wrapped in ripe tannins." | |||||
2009 Turley Rattlesnake Ridge California (750ml) |
$45.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 92-94 | |||||
| "The same can be said for the 2009 Zinfandel Rattlesnake Ridge, a high elevation, cooler climate vineyard. Its dark ruby/purple hue is followed by notes of blueberries, blackberries and damp, mossy, forest floor scents. The wine possesses fabulous fruit, admirable ripeness and a rich, full-bodied mouthfeel and plenty of power as well as fruit. Larry Turley and his sidekick, longtime winemaker Ehren Jordan remain the reference point, along with Mike Officer at Carlisle in Sonoma and the Biale Family in Napa, for world-class, quintessential old vine Zinfandels. Sadly, few California Zinfandels reach these heights. 2009 is a softer, lighter-styled vintage for Turley, but the wines are already charming and irresistible. They should be ready to drink when released and best consumed in their first 4-6 years of life." | |||||
| Wine Spectator 92 | |||||
| "Powerfully built and appealingly rustic, with wild berry and loamy white pepper aromas. The flavors are concentrated and ripe, but focused, showing smoky plum, anise and toasty sage. The tannins are big but balanced." | |||||
2010 Vineyard 7&8 Russian River California (750ml) |
$50.00
|
||||
| Wine- Maker Notes | |||||
| The 2010 ?8? Chardonnay marks the second bottling under this label from the Lone Oaks Vineyard. Located in Sonoma County?s Russian River Valley, this hillside vineyard site provides ideal growing conditions for world class Chardonnay. Exhibiting a beautiful straw yellow color, this wine starts with an intense bouquet of ripe citrus, honey and toasted almonds, intermixed with notes of chamomile and crushed stones. Full-bodied and well concentrated, this fills your palate with a rich and creamy texture, and a very long finish. This wine should age gracefully over the next decade or more! | |||||
| Antonio Galloni 90-92 | |||||
| The 2010 Chardonnay 8 boasts gorgeous minerality that serves to balance some of the wine-s more overt tendencies. There is plenty of richness and power in the glass, but those nuances are framed by the wine-s sheer harmony and sense of proportion. This is a highly promising wine from Vineyard 7&8. | |||||
2011 Tangent Albarino Edna Valley California (750ml) |
$19.50
|
||||
| Wine- Maker Notes | |||||
| Grapes for this wine were grown on the rolling slopes of vineyards in the Edna Valley of California. Located halfway between Monterey to the north and Santa Barbara to the south, this tiny valley boasts one of the coolest, and longest, growing seasons in the state. Much like the Ri?as Baixas, the Edna Valley maintains a consistent, temperate climate from vintage to vintage. The extended hang time encourages full ripening and development of intense varietal character, a tangent imperative. My aim with this wine is to keep to the classic style of traditional Albariño from Rías Baixas region of Spain, showcasing its vibrant acidity and fresh aromatics of tangerine and ripe peach. This wine is crisp and refreshing, with tropical notes of banana and grapefruit, along with an indigenous salty characteristic. It is a great accompaniment to just about an shellfish | |||||
