The first in the Taittinger Artist series, created by Hungarian optical artist Victory Vasarely. The 1978 harvest was one of the smallest in the history of Champagne. It is the rarest of the Taittinger Artist Series. "The Taittinger Collecion Brut was assembled from 40% white Chardonnay grapes from the best vineyards in the cote des Blancs and 60% Pinot Noir harvested in the best vineyards of the Montagne de Reims. " Claude Taittinger

Wine Spectator 90
Super rich and toasty Champagne in an elegant and refined style. Full bodied with apple, vanilla and lemon character, intense acidity and a medium finish
Richard Julhin
The flavor is still very young and aggressive, but the attach is promising. An unusually storable '86 that shouldn't be consumed before the year 2005.

The lyrical abstract art of Hans Hartung embodies the essence of his own personal individualism. "The 1996 harvest was classic in character, with ripeness balanced by ample acidity and a fine structure filled out by elegant fruit. The 1986 Brut Vintage is fresh and delicate, with a great subtle interplay of tropical fruit flavors and toasty nuances culminating in an elegant finish." Claude Taittinger
Wine Spectator 92
"Crisp, firm and elegant with a sharply focused beam of pear, spice, vanilla and ginger notes that are rich and concentrated. Finishes with a burst of flavor that stays with you on a long, full finish."

Wine Spectator 93
A distinctive bubbly with a deep yellow-gold color and intriguingly mature flavors that catch your attention. Smoky, nutty, toasty accents emerge in the aroma and continue through the finish. A fine bead and luxurious texture complete the package.

Wine Spectator 91
A sophisticated, complex Champagne, with toasty aromas, distinctive but reserved mineral flavors, lush texture and a lingering finish. Outstanding in a subtle style.
Richard Julhin
This is the first vintage with the beautiful white label. Even the wine is beautiful and tasteful. The nose is already mature, with elements of cheese, milk toffee, and licorice¿

Complex, nutty, vibrant aromas of orange peel, lemon oil, and biscuit. Very concentrated and intensely flavored; thick with extract in the style of the best '90s, but without any heaviness. Lemon and apple flavors really cling to the palate. Finishes very long and thoroughly ripe.

Great combination of abundant fruit flavors and elegant texture in a memorable rose. Has an authentic copper color, bright cherry-berry aromas shaded by spices and toast, and a lingering finish.

The Louis Roederer 1990 Cristal is awesome! A classic of power and finesse, richness and delicacy, it may be the greatest Cristal I have ever tasted!" The 1990 Louis Roederer Cristal Champagne is to die for. Dinner Tasting Oct, 2000
Wine Spectator 94
You won't soon forget this vivid and expressive Champagne. It packs in compound layers of citrus, vanilla, pear and nutmeg that harmonize and linger on the finish. Bright acidity makes it extra refreshing and layered.
Wine News 96
Powerful scents of toasted bread, pecan and ginger. Juicy flavors of Golden Delicious apple, Asian pear and quince. Soft acidity and touches of minerals and white peach in the delicate close.

1995 Bollinger R.D. (750ml)

Wine Spectator 95
A dry, oxidative style, with wholegrain bread, ginger, roasted hazelnut and yeast notes lending complexity. Its structure comes into relief due to the dryness, but overall this is balanced and well-integrated, with a very long finish and an expansive aftertaste. Ideal with seafood and rich sauces or game birds. Drink now through 2020.
Neil Martin, Wine Journal, eRobert Parker 93
Tasted at the Bollinger RD vertical in Paris. The 1995 RD has a more exotic nose than the 1996, perhaps more similar to the 1999 RD. It takes more time to unfurl, more introspective and delicate with touches of quince, litchi and mandarin. Good definition and focus. The palate is certainly more forward than the 1996 RD, but it has a beautiful entry with subtle honey notes, dried apricot, a touch of yeast, perhaps a finer thread of acidity that renders this a more elegant RD than the 1996, but not with the same sense of thrust and power and just a tad drier towards the finish. I would be drinking this now, but would cellar the 1996. Tasted July 2011.

Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 93+
Very strong mousse. Deep, yeasty aromas dominated by toffee, butterscotch and toast. Quite powerful but already harmonious, with real thickness of flavor and oily extract leavened by ripe acidity. Very fresh in the mouth, with very ripe hints of yellow fruits and strawberry complicated by leesy and toasty flavors in the background. A large-scaled, extremely backward wine that should develop for a decade or two in bottle. This is looking like a great vintage for both Cristal Brut and Rose.
Wine News 95
Appealing scents of lemon, vanilla and gingerbread. Creamy flavors of lemon custard, vanilla cream and Golden Delicious apple. Rich and round with supple notes of orange and cream in the soft close.

1997 Bollinger R.D. (750ml)

Robert Parker 95
The 1997 R.D. opens with explosive aromatics that meld seamlessly into layers of ripe fruit. The signature slightly oxidative notes are there, but there is also more than enough fruit to provide terrific balance. This is an especially accessible, opulent R.D. that can be drunk young or cellared. The R.D. starts off as the same wine as the Grande Annee but sees an extended period of aging on its lees prior to being disgorged. In 1997 the R.D. is 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay. This bottle was disgorged on March 25, 2008. The 1997 is a great introduction to the R.D style, and a bottle that can be enjoyed while the 1995 and 1996 age. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2018.
Neil Martin, Wine Journal, eRobert Parker 93
Tasted at the Bollinger RD vertical in Paris. The 1997 has a languid but persistent mousse. The nose displays good intensity with fine mineralité intermingling with grilled walnuts, smoke and just a faint touch of beeswax. The palate is very well balanced with a citric thread of acidity, lemon peel, fresh red gooseberries, green apple and crushed stone. The acidity drives the finish, though it is just a little unruly on the bitter lemon and cantaloupe finish. Very good length, this 1997 RD evolves nicely in the glass, become ever more refined and elegant. Tasted July 2011.

Wine- Maker Notes
A unique phenomenon, Vieilles Vignes Françaises is produced with grapes coming from three very small pieces of land of Grand Cru which amount to just under 0.6 hectares (1,4 acres) : Chaudes Terres in Aÿ (0.6 acre), Clos St-Jacques in Aÿ (0.5 acre) and Croix Rouge in Bouzy (0.3 acre). These were unaffected by the phylloxera, which destroyed all the Champagne vineyards at the end of the 19th century The vineyards were then re-grafted with American rootstocks. Les Vieilles Vignes Françaises miraculously escaped the devastation and therefore were not re-grafted. They continue to be planted en foule, in the historic, layered, self-propagating method and thus perpetuate what can be called the remains of the days of the Champagne region
Robert Parker 95
"The 1999 Vielles Vignes Francaises is simply stunning. Layers of perfumed red raspberries, flowers and spices flow onto the palate with breathtaking beauty. The mousse is exceptionally fine, as is everything about this wine. Although the wine possesses superb density and richness, it remains light on the palate and supremely graceful. This bottle was disgorged in July, 2008." Antonio Galloni

Pale yellow with a strong bead. Peach skin, buttered pear and musky herbs and lees on the nose. Deep, buttery orchard and pit fruit flavors are underscored by racy minerality and pick up an exotic floral note with air. Finishes with very good length and echoes of smoke and pear. This is drinking well right now." - Josh Raynolds
Wine Spectator 91
High-toned, with floral and ginger aromas, picking up grapefruit on the palate. Light-bodied, but not light, with fine intensity and a white pepper finish." - Bruce Sanderson
Allen Meadows, Burghound 92
..an elegant and relatively high-toned nose that offers a moderate level of yeastiness with a distinct citrus component to the very pretty floral notes that blend into crisp, intense and effervescent middle weight flavors of fine depth and complexity that culminate in a beautifully persistent finish that is stylish and understated. Lovely stuff that could be enjoyed now or held for a few more years.

1999 Philipponnat Clos des Goisses (750ml)

Robert Parker 95
The 1999 Clos des Goisses flows from the glass with the essence of minerals, chalk, smoke, ash, white peaches, pears, flowers and sweet oak. This is a muscular, powerful wine that needs serious bottle age to come around, yet it possesses striking clarity and detail in its aromatics and flavors. Clos des Goisses is one of the most rewarding wines to drink when mature, and I have no doubt this will be another splendid version. This refined, sumptuous wine is not to be missed. Clos des Goisses is 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, and 30% of the wine was fermented in oak. This bottle was disgorged in March 2007. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2024. Philipponnat makes a wide range of wines but the house¿s fame rests squarely on the monumental Clos des Goisses, a Pinot-dominated Champagne that emerges from a 5.5 hectare vineyard in Mareuil-sur-Ay. Oddly enough Clos des Goisses remains a wine for insiders despite a track record few wines can match, as it is one of the most ageworthy Champagnes on the market. Antonio Galloni

1999 Salon Le Mesnil (750ml-3pk OWC)

Robert Parker 94+
"The 1999 Brut Blanc de Blancs is impenetrable. This is a massive, full-bodied Salon that totally saturates the palate with fruit. Neither as austere or pointed as the 1996, nor as open as the 1997, instead the 1999 comes across as big, rich and powerful. There is little in the way of flavor or aromatic development, and it may be some time before any real complexity develops in bottle. Today it looks like the wine?s best days are well off into the future. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039."
Wine Spectator 94
"There's a streak of minerality and a lacy texture to this floral Champagne, with finely tuned acidity to focus the candied lemon zest, poached pear, nutmeg and ginger hints. A more delicate style, but seamless in its balance and finesse, with a subtle finish. Drink now through 2024."

Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 94
"Bright yellow-gold. Deeply pitched, pungent aromas of candied lemon, pear skin, anise, buttered toast and smoky lees, with notes of ginger and white flowers adding lift. Densely packed yet vibrant, showing impressive power and clarity to its mineral-accented citrus and orchard fruit flavors. Expands on the finish but maintains its focus, picking up iodine and bitter lime notes that linger impressively. A more vibrant rendition of Salon than the 1997 version, but with a bit less concentration than the 1996. This should be a slow ager."

"The 2002 Cote aux Enfants is Bollinger's still Pinot Noir from a south-facing vineyard in Ay. The wine possesses an intriguing array of candied cherries, earthiness and wild herbs in a soft-textured style. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2012." Antonio Galloni

Paul Déthune owns seven hectares of vineyards in Ambonnay. He only makes Grand Cru Champagne. Their NV Grand Cru Brut represents tremendous value . It is made from 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay all from Grand Cru vineyards. The nose presents a cornacopia of fresh fruit mingled with yeasty overtones. " Bright pale color. Very strong, fine mousse. Fine, vibrant aromas of lemon cream and citrus skin. Rich, creamy, suave and very concentrated, with terrific vinosity thanks to harmonious ripe acids. A Champagne of outstanding finesse. Finishes lemony, firm and very long."
