1900 Lomelino Verdelho (750ml) |
$1,425.00
|
||||
| Michael Broadbent | |||||
| Vintage Assessment: As it happens, the opening of the 20th century was as splendidly successful in Madeira as it was in other classic wine regions of Europe.. | |||||
1921 Yquem (750ml) |
$3,410.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 100 | |||||
| There is no doubt that the two most profound and mature Yquem made in the twentieth century were the 1921 (rated 100 on two separate occasions..) and the 1937. | |||||
| Richard Olney | |||||
| From Yquem by R. Olney. Often characterized as the greatest white wine of the century. "Suave, seductive, exotic liqueur-like aroma of candied fruits with floral touches, a scent of peppery yellow roses. Sumptuous, enveloping warmth. Ripe, complex palate. Rich in savours with spicy overtones and mouth vapours recalling green chartreuse, the ensemble contained by a remarkable overall homogeneity conferring upon the wine an aura of timelessness"( Robert Goffard, 1984) | |||||
| Wine Spectator 97 | |||||
| "With its brilliant orange-amber color, this is a truly elegant wine that balances its sweetness and flavors on a razor edge. The finish has apricot, vanilla, pear, toast, fig, tobacco and coffee. Amazingly complex for its seemingly delicate style, yet it sacrifices no sweetness." | |||||

| 5***** A great ripe classic Sauterne vintage. One of the best ever. | |||||
| FineWine International | |||||
| It is very honeyed with a lovely deep gold color and aromas of sweet caramel and molasses. The finish is quite long. A beautiful wine over all. | |||||
1949 Climens (750ml) |
$865.00
|
||||
| Michael Broadbent 5 * | |||||
| One of the best vintages of this consistently good Chateau. Creamy and superbly balanced. | |||||
| David Peppercorn | |||||
| One of the two great wines of Barsac, this is always among the finest wines of Sauternes, and one of the few that can rival Yquem for the perfection of its flavour and breed, if not for its power..It is interesting to not that almost the entire vineyard is planted with Semillon, which is said to suit the chalky soil..These are very long lived wine, combining freshness, elegance and breed without the weight of the very best Sauternes, as distinct from Barsac, but with a lusciousness which slowly opens up with age. The balance, which is one of the greatest charms of the wines, means that it keeps its colour and hardly ever goes dark, so maderization is a stranger here. | |||||
1955 Tuke Holdsworth (750ml) |
$350.00
|
||||
| Michael Broadbent | |||||
| Two recent bottles¿medium, mature yet rich and lively-looking; bouquet of wax and liquorice; fairly sweet-one was drying out a little-mdium weight, good fruit but lean, with high alcohol and acid levels. Good drinnk though. Three ***. | |||||
1963 Warre (750ml) |
$201.00
|
||||
| Wine Spectator 92 | |||||
| Extremely impressive, with beautifully balanced, harmonious sweet fruit on the palate. Medium ruby-red, ripe cherry and cassis aromas, medium-bodied, with rich, velvety fruit flavors, full, soft tannins and a powerful finish. (JS) | |||||
| Serena Sutcliffe | |||||
| Masses of rich plums and prunes on the flavour. So rich-such a surprise. Big wine. This is a great Warre and should not be missed whenever it appears. | |||||
1966 Grahams (750ml) |
$235.00
|
||||
| Michael Broadbent 5 * | |||||
| ..another beauty, backed up with dozens of admiring notes..Eleven bottles decanted and consumed at the great dinner to clebrate the 30th anniversary of Christie's wine department: sheer perfection. | |||||
| Wine Spectator 93 | |||||
| Elegant, silky and youthful, this is a sexy wine. Medium ruby-red, showing aromas of plums, chocolate and ripe fruit. The palate follows through with a bounty of sweet plum flavors and a fleshy mouth-feel. It should continue to improve with age. | |||||
1966 Taylor (750ml)
List Price:
|
$175.00
|
||||
| Michael Broadbent 5 * | |||||
| Deep, rich, maturing; sweet, full-bodied, shapely, firm, good length, still tannic in the early 1990s. | |||||
| Wine Spectator 89 | |||||
| Rather perplexing, since it is still very hard and coarse. It makes one wonder if it will ever come around. Medium ruby, with a prune and ripe berry nose, medium-bodied, with ripe fruit flavors and rather lean, hard tannins. | |||||
1967 Caillou (750ml) |
$300.00
|

| FineWine International | |||||
| A tremendous vintage in Barsac and Sauternes. | |||||
1970 Grahams (750ml)
List Price:
|
$260.00
|
||||
| Wine Spectator 94 | |||||
| This is an extremely full-bodied, powerful wine, but it still retains a classy balance. Deep ruby, with chocolate and berry aromas, full-bodied, with anise and dried cherry flavors, full, hard tannins and a long finish. Good now but a few more yearsof bottle age would improve it. | |||||
| Hachette Guide 96 | |||||
| ...we finished the evening with an exquisite bottle of 1970 Graham's Vintage Port. It was rich and concentrated with loads of berry fruit, an unctuous texture, balanced freshness, and surprising vigor and youthfulness for 36-year old port. March, 2006 | |||||
1975 Voigny (750ml) |
$65.00
|
||||
1976 Doisy Daene (750ml) |
$136.00
|
||||
| Michael Broadbent | |||||
| Vintage Assessment: These were lovely wines from the word go but in the final analysis, only the best 1976s will stay the pace. A year of excessive hesat and drought; thouroughly ripe grapes, well nigh perfect in Sauternes. | |||||
1977 Fonseca (750ml) |
$285.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 93 | |||||
| The 1977 Fonseca is slightly lighter in color and shows some ambering on the rim of the glass. Lilies, cherries, coffee, mocha, and green flower notes can be discerned in its penetrating aromatics. Softly textured, this wine's mouth-feel is exciting yet not as enthralling as the 1983's. Its warm personality is interspersed with toasted walnuts, cassis, and plummy blackberries. Its super-long, sweet finish is harmonious and flavorful. | |||||
| Wine Spectator 100 | |||||
| Until recently this wine was understated and closed. Now it has opened into a mammoth wine with so much fruit that it crushes your palate. Deep ruby, with ripe raspberry and cherry aromas, full-bodied, with layers of concentrated, sweet raspberry flavors. | |||||
| Clive Coates 19 | |||||
| Fullish, well matured colour. Quite a firm nose. A big wine as always. Very good depth of fruit. Plenty of energy. Full body on the palate. Spendidly rich and concentrated. Excellent grip. Lots of depth and dimension. Really lovely. Splendid finish. Will last for ages. Very fine indeed. | |||||

1977 Grahams (750ml) |
$300.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 93 | |||||
| Graham is another great port house, producing one of the deepest-colored and sweetest styles of vintage port. Along with Taylor and Fonseca, Graham has probably been the most consistent producer of great port in the post- World War II era. Their tawnys are quite good rather than exceptional, but their vintage ports are truly sublime and sumptuous. | |||||
| Michael Broadbent 5 * | |||||
| A very good wine. ..gradual colour loss through the 1980s but, as it matured, a wonderful melange of fragrances developing: liquorice, strawberry, fig; fleshy, lovely fruit. Nearly 20, always admiring notes..very rich, powerful bouquet opoening up beautifully; sweet, good body and backbone, marvellous length, spicy finish. Most recently: deliciou! | |||||
1978 Chateau St Jean Robert Young SLH California (375ml) |
$103.00
|
||||
1978 Taittinger Collection ( Vasarely) (750ml) |
$490.00
|
||||
| FineWine International | |||||
| The first in the Taittinger Artist series, created by Hungarian optical artist Victory Vasarely. The 1978 harvest was one of the smallest in the history of Champagne. It is the rarest of the Taittinger Artist Series. "The Taittinger Collecion Brut was assembled from 40% white Chardonnay grapes from the best vineyards in the cote des Blancs and 60% Pinot Noir harvested in the best vineyards of the Montagne de Reims. " Claude Taittinger | |||||

1983 Climens (750ml) |
$163.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 92 | |||||
| It exhibits the classic honeyed pineapple and spicy oakiness that makes Climens so profound. In the mouth, this wine is opulent and extremely rich, with gobs of glycerin yet enough acidity to give it plenty of definition and crispness. It is a beautifully made, stunning Barsac?" | |||||
1983 Rieussec (750ml) |
$103.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 92 | |||||
| Light golden with just the slightest tint of green, the 1983 Rieussec, from an excellent year for Sauternes, is certainly one of this property's greatest wines. Well structured with excellent acidity, and a deep, long, rich, full-bodied, viscous texture, this wine, despite the richness and power, is neither heavy nor cloying. It has gorgeous balance and a very long, lingering, spectacular finish. One of the great successes of the vintage. | |||||
| Wine Spectator 94 | |||||
| Nectar-like if a bit on the sweet side, impressively complex, concentrated and focused. Deep gold, big, sweet and rich, with gobs of concentrated fig, brown sugar, butterscotch and oak flavor. A knockout. | |||||
1983 Suduiraut (375ml) |
$103.00
|
||||
| Wine Spectator 88 | |||||
| Delicious and balanced, showing exciting earthy, white truffle flavors that add complexity to the honey and spice notes. Medium intensity. | |||||
| Robert Parker 87 | |||||
| This looks to be a good Suduiraut. A medium golden color, with a very honeyed, rich, floral bouquet, this full-bodied wine is not as profound as the other 1983s. Sweet, with fine honeyed flavors, this is an elegant, graceful Suduiraut with plenty of character. However, given the vintage, I had expected even more. | |||||
1985 Fonseca (750ml) |
$124.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 90 | |||||
| Fonseca is one of the great port lodges, producing the most exotic and most complex port. If Fonseca lacks the sheer weight and power of a Taylor, Dow or Warre, or the opulent sweetness and intensity of a Graham, it excels in its magnificently complex, intense bouquet of plummy, cedary, spicy fruit and long, broad, expansive flavors. With its lush, seductive character, one might call it the Pomerol of Vintage ports. When it is young, it often loses out in blind tastings to the heavier, weightier, more tannic wines, but I always find myself upgrading my opinion of Fonseca after it has had 7-10 years of age. The 1985 looks to be one of the top successes of the vintage, yet I believe both the superb 1983 and the otherworldly 1977 are far superior. Dense ruby/purple with the Oriental spice-box aroma, the 1985 is an expansive, sweet, broadly flavored wine with outstanding depth, concentration, and balance. It finishes with a solid lashing of alcohol and tannin. | |||||
| Wine Spectator 93 | |||||
| Very dark and youthful ruby-purple. Very intense aromas of blackberry and black licorice. Full-bodied and lightly sweet, with chewy tannins and a rich licorice, blackberry undertone. Still tight. Drinkable now, but it needs a few more years. '77/'85/'97 | |||||
1986 Climens (750ml) |
$180.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 96 | |||||
| A totally compelling Climens and every bit as good as the 1988. It is probably the best Climens made since their spectacular 1971. Still light gold in color, it has an expansive bouquet of new oak, oranges, pineapples, and other tropical fruits. In the mouth, there is great richness that seems all the more impressive because of the wine's remarkable clarity and definition. There is as much botrytis in the 1986 as in the 1988. Despite the intensity and extract levels, this sweet wine comes across as crisp and relatively light. The 1986 is a stunning example of Climens at its very best. | |||||
1986 Ruinart (750ml) |
$201.00
|
||||
| Wine Spectator 90 | |||||
| Super rich and toasty Champagne in an elegant and refined style. Full bodied with apple, vanilla and lemon character, intense acidity and a medium finish | |||||
| Richard Julhin | |||||
| The flavor is still very young and aggressive, but the attach is promising. An unusually storable '86 that shouldn't be consumed before the year 2005. | |||||
1986 Taittinger Collection (Hartung) (750ml) |
$385.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 94 | |||||
| FineWine International | |||||
| The lyrical abstract art of Hans Hartung embodies the essence of his own personal individualism. "The 1996 harvest was classic in character, with ripeness balanced by ample acidity and a fine structure filled out by elegant fruit. The 1986 Brut Vintage is fresh and delicate, with a great subtle interplay of tropical fruit flavors and toasty nuances culminating in an elegant finish." Claude Taittinger | |||||
| Wine Spectator 92 | |||||
| "Crisp, firm and elegant with a sharply focused beam of pear, spice, vanilla and ginger notes that are rich and concentrated. Finishes with a burst of flavor that stays with you on a long, full finish." | |||||
1988 Nicolas Feuillatte Vintage Cuvee Speciale (750ml) |
$152.00
|
||||
| Wine Spectator 93 | |||||
| A distinctive bubbly with a deep yellow-gold color and intriguingly mature flavors that catch your attention. Smoky, nutty, toasty accents emerge in the aroma and continue through the finish. A fine bead and luxurious texture complete the package. | |||||
1988 Pommery Cuvee Louise (750ml) |
$158.00
|
||||
| Wine Spectator 91 | |||||
| A sophisticated, complex Champagne, with toasty aromas, distinctive but reserved mineral flavors, lush texture and a lingering finish. Outstanding in a subtle style. | |||||
| Richard Julhin | |||||
| This is the first vintage with the beautiful white label. Even the wine is beautiful and tasteful. The nose is already mature, with elements of cheese, milk toffee, and licorice¿ | |||||
1988 Rieussec (375ml) |
$72.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 93 | |||||
| The 1988 remains a very backward wine. Full-bodied and powerful, extremely rich and dense, it may be the least evolved 1988. The nose offers enticing coconut, orange, vanilla, and honeyed scents. The flavors are highly extracted. The wine's acidity and youthfulness suggest this wine needs another 5-10 years of cellaring. It should keep for 30 years. | |||||
| Wine Spectator 94 | |||||
| Sweet, ripe and loaded with honey, toffee, carameland nutmeg-scented pear and apricot aromas andflavors. Generous fig and tobacco notes echo onthe long finish. A silky, supple, succulent winefrom France that should improve through at least 2000. | |||||
1989 Raymond-Lafon (750ml) |
$103.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 91 | |||||
| The 1989 exhibits aromas of honeyed pineapple/tropical fruit and toasty new oak, as well as an exotic, flashy perfume that is not as pronounced in either the 1990 or 1988. The 1989 exhibits less botrytis than the other two vintages. The wine possesses an opulent, full-bodied, exotic, lavishly rich personality, moderate sweetness, and huge quantity of extract, glycerin, and alcohol in its finish. The wine is also extremely young and unevolved. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2025. | |||||
| Wine Spectator 90 | |||||
| Stands out in this crowd because of its stylish lilac, violet, floral, rose petal scents that delight from start to finish; medium-to-full body and sweetness plus a long finish. | |||||
1989 Schramsberg J. Schram California (750ml) |
$82.00
|
||||
| Wine Spectator 90 | |||||
| Everything you want in a bottle-aged sparkling wine. Bold, ripe and spicy, with honey, pear, nut and vanilla flavors that turn rich and creamy on the finish. Impressive for its finesse and concentration. | |||||
1990 Laurent Perrier Grand Siecle Lumiere (750ml) |
$250.00
|
||||
| Wine Spectator 93 | |||||

1990 Perrier Jouet Fleur de Champagne (1.5L) |
$395.00
|
||||
| Wine Spectator 94 | |||||
| A grand, traditional Champagne in the best sense. Full-bodied, beautifully balanced and luxuriously smooth in texture, offering subtle, complex accents of toasted almond to complement the base of fine fruit flavor. | |||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 92 | |||||
| Complex, nutty, vibrant aromas of orange peel, lemon oil, and biscuit. Very concentrated and intensely flavored; thick with extract in the style of the best '90s, but without any heaviness. Lemon and apple flavors really cling to the palate. Finishes very long and thoroughly ripe. | |||||

| Robert Parker 98 | |||||
| The Louis Roederer 1990 Cristal is awesome! A classic of power and finesse, richness and delicacy, it may be the greatest Cristal I have ever tasted!" The 1990 Louis Roederer Cristal Champagne is to die for. Dinner Tasting Oct, 2000 | |||||
| Wine Spectator 94 | |||||
| You won't soon forget this vivid and expressive Champagne. It packs in compound layers of citrus, vanilla, pear and nutmeg that harmonize and linger on the finish. Bright acidity makes it extra refreshing and layered. | |||||
| Wine News 96 | |||||
| Powerful scents of toasted bread, pecan and ginger. Juicy flavors of Golden Delicious apple, Asian pear and quince. Soft acidity and touches of minerals and white peach in the delicate close. | |||||
1995 Bollinger R.D. (750ml) |
$220.00
|
||||
| Wine Spectator 95 | |||||
| A dry, oxidative style, with wholegrain bread, ginger, roasted hazelnut and yeast notes lending complexity. Its structure comes into relief due to the dryness, but overall this is balanced and well-integrated, with a very long finish and an expansive aftertaste. Ideal with seafood and rich sauces or game birds. Drink now through 2020. | |||||
| Neil Martin, Wine Journal, eRobert Parker 93 | |||||
| Tasted at the Bollinger RD vertical in Paris. The 1995 RD has a more exotic nose than the 1996, perhaps more similar to the 1999 RD. It takes more time to unfurl, more introspective and delicate with touches of quince, litchi and mandarin. Good definition and focus. The palate is certainly more forward than the 1996 RD, but it has a beautiful entry with subtle honey notes, dried apricot, a touch of yeast, perhaps a finer thread of acidity that renders this a more elegant RD than the 1996, but not with the same sense of thrust and power and just a tad drier towards the finish. I would be drinking this now, but would cellar the 1996. Tasted July 2011. | |||||

1995 Roederer Cristal (1.5L) |
$700.00
|
||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 93+ | |||||
| Very strong mousse. Deep, yeasty aromas dominated by toffee, butterscotch and toast. Quite powerful but already harmonious, with real thickness of flavor and oily extract leavened by ripe acidity. Very fresh in the mouth, with very ripe hints of yellow fruits and strawberry complicated by leesy and toasty flavors in the background. A large-scaled, extremely backward wine that should develop for a decade or two in bottle. This is looking like a great vintage for both Cristal Brut and Rose. | |||||
| Wine News 95 | |||||
| Appealing scents of lemon, vanilla and gingerbread. Creamy flavors of lemon custard, vanilla cream and Golden Delicious apple. Rich and round with supple notes of orange and cream in the soft close. | |||||
1995 Royal Tokaji ,Tokaji Aszu 6 Puttonyos Mezes Maly (500ml) |
$190.00
|
||||
| FineWine International | |||||
| One of the Great First Growths in Tokaji, the vineyard in on a south-facing slope. Deep loess soil produces wines with great elegance and finess, which are also supremely honeyed; the name in fact translates as honey pot. This single vineyard grand cru offering is loaded with apricot and exotic aromas and flavors all beautifully balanced with a firm acidity that keeps the wine from being cloying. Very impressive. | |||||
| Wine Spectator 92 | |||||
| Rich and creamy up front, exhibiting caramel, coconut, spice and orange flavors, then a wave of fresh acidity ushers in the refreshing finish. The aftertaste combines citrus and caramel. Drink now through 2010. | |||||
| Wine & Spirits 97 | |||||
| Mezes Maly means "honey pot", which doesn't even begin to describe the intensity of this wine. Age has taken it into an unusual realm of flavors: leather, cedar, cigars, saffron, hay and roasted coffee are just a few of the scents it offers up. These continue on the palate, joined by fruit flavors of broiled pineapple and caramelized apple, and mineral notes of earth, resin and brine. Even at 11 years old, the acidity is so strong the wine feels like its vibrating, and it shows no sign of settling down. | |||||
1995 Royal Tokaji, Tokaji Aszu Essencia (500ml) |
$163.00
|
||||
| FineWine International | |||||
| The Tokaji Aszu Essencia is the wine of legends. Made from super-concentrated botrytisized grapes, the Essencia is only made in exceptional years. Because of its high concentration of sugar it can take years to ferment. The alcohol is a very modest 8.5%. It can age almost indefinitely. The just released 1995 most be tasted to be belived. The wine is thick, unctuous but not in the least cloying thanks to the the acidity of the Fermint grape. The aromas and flavors combine peach, apricot,quince, orange, raisin, honey, and fig. The finish lingers on the palate for minutes. If you were down to your last sip of wine...this is the one you would want. | |||||
| Wine Spectator 95 | |||||
| Thick and dense yet never heavy, with aromas that flit from floral and vegetal to caramel and smoke and back again. There's noticeable sweetness matched by a brisk acidity that need time to integrate. Fine, lingering finish. Seems monolithic today, so be patient. | |||||
1996 Ca'Togni Sweet California (375ml) |
$65.00
|
||||
| Robert Parker 92 | |||||
| Please note: The review below is for the 1995 version of this wine and is for information purposes only. Togni turns out tiny quantities of a sweet, jammy dessert wine made from the black "Muscat grape. This fun wine is surprisingly complex and light for its sweetness and penetrating intensity. The 1997 and 1996 Ca Tognis both offer notes of Chinese black tea, white flowers, raisins, prunes, and blackberry fruit. Moderately sweet and exceptionally pure,they are ideal apertif offerings. | |||||
1996 Quinta do Vesuvio (750ml) |
$57.00

| Impressive. Dark purple in color, withlots of pretty plum, floral and berry aromas. Full-bodied, with very racy tannins and a long, long fruity finish. | |||||
1997 Fonseca (750ml) |
$98.00
|
||||
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 93+ | |||||
| Full saturated ruby. Inky, brooding aromas of syrupy black fruits and violet. Dense, thick and tactile, with superb depth of flavor and compelling juicy sweetness. Finishes with powrful tannins and superb grip.. | |||||
| Robert Parker 93 | |||||
| Somewhat of a lightweight for Fonseca, but undeniably charming, this dark ruby/purple-colored wine offers a floral, exotic, flamboyant bouquet, a sweet, fleshy style, but not a great deal of weight or massiveness. Heady alcohol, sweet tannin, and a velvety texture make for a gorgeous finish. While I would have preferred to have seen more weight, structure, and intensity, this is an outstanding, albeit lighter than normal Fonseca. Anticipated maturity: now-2020. | |||||
1997 Grover Family Port (California) (750ml-12pk) |
$525.00
|
||||
| FineWine International | |||||
| We are pleased to offer our first release of Grover Family Vintage Port. The grapes for this wine came from our old vine Carignane vineyard in Mendocino. The wine was fortified with several different port still brandies and aged three years in cask prior to bottling. Only 42 cases of this unique vintage style port were produced. Tasting notes: Nice dark ruby-purple color with a nose of subtle complexity. Aromas of exotic spices black fruits and hints of chocolate emerge with aeration. The wine is medium bodied, rather elegant in mouth-feel, round and luscious. The blackfruit and plum flavors are ripe but not overtly sweet. There is none of the raisiny character that frequently mars similar port-style wines from California. The finish is long and lingering. This is a wine of subtlety not raw power. Already delicious this port-style wine will continue to improve with additional cellaring. | |||||

| Seamless and statuesque. Clearly, one of the Ports of the vintage. Superbly concentrated and racy, with berry, coffee and jam character. Full-bodied and medium sweet, with big, velvety tannins. Long finish. | |||||

| The 1997 Nacional is a legend from this pre-phylloxera vineyard. The color is a saturated black/purple. The nose reveals floral scents intermixed with coffee, blackberries, tar, cassis, licorice, and chocolate. Extremely full-bodied, but less massive and seamless, this spectacular Nacional will reach its plateau of maturity quickly, where it will remain for 2-3 decades. | |||||
