Sauvignon Blanc

5 items in Sauvignon Blanc

2001 Rudd California (750ml)

$50.00

2005 Vogelzang Happy Canyon Vineyard California (750ml)

$28.00
Wine- Maker Notes
Elegant intensity is the most appropriate way to describe this wine. This wine bursts with distinct and clear fruit expressions of pineapple, pear, and lime, complimented with a wonderful minerality reminiscent of Bordeaux blanc that we now recognize as a classic Vogelzang Vineyard aroma profile. The mouthfeel is amazingly broad and rich, yet it maintains an excellent natural acidity true to the varietal. Seamlessly elegant from start to finish.

2007 Mauritson Dry Creek Valley (750ml)

$16.00
Wine- Maker Notes
the 2007 Sauvignon Blanc contains nearly 30% of the Musque clone of Sauvignon Banc from Grandma's block. This clone is believed to be a hybrid of Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat. The Musque clone produces wines with amazing mouth feel and complex fruit aromas yet retains the crisp acidity of traditional Sauvignon Blanc. Characteristic of previous vintages the 2007 vintate exhibits bright aromatics, supple fruit, soft mouth feel, and racy acidity. The difference is in the texture and exotic fruit component of this vintage.

2007 Morlet Family, La Proportion Doree, Sonoma California (750ml)

$60.00
Wine- Maker Notes
A harmonious blend of the three classic white Bordeaux varietals grown in the Golden State's Sonoma County, this unique cuvée was handcrafted using classical winemaking techniques inspired from Pessac-Léognan. As in architectural arts, it is 'The Golden Ratio' or 'La Proportion Dorée.' Bright yellow. Intense bouquet of candied lemon, muscat, and honeysuckle flavors intermixed with sweet notes of ripened apricot and fresh quince. Full-bodied, seamless, refined and complex. Slightly more concentrated than the 2006 vintage. Will age gracefully for over a decade. 500 cases produced.
Robert Parker 95
One of the most profound blends of Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and in this case, 2% Muscadelle, is the 2007 La Proportion Doree (64% Semillon, 34% Sauvignon Blanc, and 2% Muscadelle). An extraordinary nose of waxy, honeyed grapefruit, melons, figs, and quince is superb. In the mouth, a liqueur of rocks intermixed with quinine, quince, and waxy notes continues to cascade over the palate. This is a sensational, dry, incredibly complex wine that shows the potential that blends such as this can achieve. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.
Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 94
Bright medium yellow. Knockout nose combines lemon zest and oil, licorice, lichee, honey and lanolin, with a floral honeysuckle quality emerging with air. Lush and sweet but firmly built, with terrific energy to the citrus oil and orange blossom flavors. As dry as this is, its richness gives it an almost sweet impression. Wonderfully seamless and fascinating white blend with a youthful, almost tannic finish. This will take on deeper apricot and quince flavors with bottle aging. The semillon used for this blend comes from 35- and 50-year-old plantings, according to Morlet.

2009 Southern Right, Walker Bay (750ml)

List Price: $19.00       Our Price: $15.00
$15.00
Wine- Maker Notes
The grapes for this wine are grown on two separate vineyards in the Walker Bay that comprise 45% of the final assemblage that combine with the grapes from a vineyard in Villiersdorp. Each of the vineyards adds its own dimension to the Southern Right Sauvignon Blanc with the objective a fashioning an aromatic South African styled Sauvignon Blanc. Our style is a contrast between the overt fruit of new world Sauvignon Blanc balanced against the tight, mineral influenced and restrained styles of the Loire Valley.
