Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 90
A dark ruby color, a tight but complex bouquet of blackcurrants, spice, and vanilla oakiness, medium body, firm tannins and a long crisp finish. Anticipated Maturity: Now - 2005
Wine Spectator 92
Lafite Rothschild is arguably the archetypal Bordeaux chateau, an aristocratic first growth with a reputation for great wines already established in the 18th century, When Thomas Jefferson visited Bordeaux and purchased it's wines. The 1979's elegance and balance, all finesse and subtlety, is classic Lafite.
Clive Coates 19.5
Fullish, mature colour. Lovely rich succulent blackberry nose. A touch of sweetness. A touch of oak. Pure class and elegance. Full body. Very good tannins. Excellent fruit and grip. This is a super 1979. One of the very best. Lovely long, vigorous finish. Vertical tasting 2001
