| The Bachelet brothers have taken this old estate and created a new one with outstanding results. The Batard Montrachet is deep, complex and brooding, with full weight, spicy citrus and slate-like mineral infused flavors, and ending in a long fully extended finish. It should develop even more depth and complexity with 7+ years of aging. | |

| ) Bright, pale yellow. Reticent, even austere, on the nose, hinting at honeyed depths. Then fat, full and powerful, with very ripe pineapple and apricot flavors framed by firm acidity. An impressively structured grand cru with terrific fruit and grip. With aeration, more oak notes of vanilla and toast emerged, along with a captivating orange quality. I find this considerably more backward than the 2006. |
