Tasting Notes
| Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 92-94 | |
| Very ripe aromas of peach, hazelnut and minerals; smells like a Puligny on the Meursault border, which it is. The sweetest of these wines to this point, but with good ripe acidity framing the fruit and giving the wine energy. Wonderfully smooth and fat but also has solid underlying structure. Finishes with lingering suggestions of exotic fruits. These vines average 50 years of age, says Girardin, who always harvests early in this plot. | |
| Allen Meadows, Burghound 92 | |
| Here the nose is more reserved with discreet hints of pain grillé, anise, ripe orchard fruit and spiced pear aromas that introduce rich, pure, full, intense and powerful medium-bodied flavors that possess a trace of underlying minerality and an utterly beguiling texture on the vibrant and very fresh finish. Good stuff here and recommended. |
