Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 89+
Medium-deep red. Restrained but lively aromas of raspberry, maraschino cherry, mocha and earth, with a sappy spicy quality adding appeal. Quite suave and silky on entry, then dry and tight in the middle palate, even a bit severe today. A rather angular wine whose strong acidity calls for bottle aging. Finishes with fine tannins and notes of minerals and earth. Almost rustic for a Williams-Selyem pinot, but I find these aromas and flavors to be quite intriguing.
