"Dark ruby. Rich, chocolatey cherry and blackcurrant aromas, with vanilla and baking spices adding nuance. Fat, round and sweet, showing distinctly oak-spiced dark fruit flavors, with firm tannins framing the finish. Impressive in its material but the oak is a bit strident today."

"The 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Origines is one of the vintage¿s most profound wines. Inky purple to the rim, showing some subtle influence of barriques, the wine has an impressive nose of chocolate, smoke, roasted meats, blueberries, and jammy black cherries with some licorice and smoke. The wine is full-bodied, powerful, but has silky tannins and good acidity. This wine should be drinkable upon release and last for 15 or more years."
