The 2006 Syrah Alder Springs Vineyard The Terraces (3% Viognier) is absolutely sensational. Its creamy, full-bodied texture offers up notes of blueberry and black raspberry liqueur intermixed with licorice, roasted meat, and an exotic peach/apricot scent. The wine is dense, full-bodied, fabulously fruit-driven, with great texture and intensity. This is one sexy hussy of a wine to drink over the next 7-8 years.

Opaque purple. Smoky cassis and blueberry aromas are complicated by cracked pepper, violet and dusty minerals. Juicy and sweet, with dense dark fruit preserve flavors given verve by tangy acidity. A cool, understated wine with admirable clarity and focus on the long, sappy finish, which features a strong note of peppery spice.
